Charlize's Story

Say hello to Charlize, a super sweet girl who's all about spending time with her humans. She's the perfect mix of affectionate and playful, loving nothing more than being near you-whether that's curled up on your lap or playing in the yard. Charlize is a smart cookie who knows her sits and 4-paws, but she might just sneak onto your lap for a bit of extra love.

When it comes to toys, she's absolutely obsessed! Soft toys are her favorite, but she's just as happy to chase a ball and bring it back-though she's still perfecting the art of actually giving it back. She's a social butterfly and would love to share her life with another doggy friend who can enjoy her playful energy - they would need to meet at the time of adoption to ensure a good match! Because she's such a lively and clever girl, she'll need secure solid fencing to keep her safe.

While she's lived with a cat before and did just fine, she would not be suited to a home where she has access to livestock as she's a bit too interested in them. Charlize would thrive in a home with older kids who can respect her space (especially during meal times) and share in her adventures. With love, patience, and lots of playtime, Charlize will be the most loyal, loving, and fun companion you could wish for!

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
