Nova's Story

If personality came in fireworks form, Nova would be the grand finale. This fun little lady is equal parts sensitive soul and zoomie-powered mischief maker, wrapped up in a compact, wiggly package.

Nova hasn’t always had the easiest start—so the big wide world can feel a bit overwhelming at first. New places and experiences can make her a little worried, but oh boy, once she realizes she’s safe? Her confidence blooms quickly…turning into delightful bursts of excitement and energy!

Nova is looking for a patient, understanding human who will let her take things at her pace. She needs time to sniff, observe, and settle before diving into new adventures—even if she seems like she’s ready to conquer the world after day one. Slow and steady wins Nova’s heart.

She can feel unsure with close handling, so she appreciates being the one to initiate affection and interactions.

She has a busy little brain and is a clever cookie with a passion for snacks and toys. She previously got a bit creative with her interior decorating so her forever home will need to provide her with structure, enrichment, and positive training to help her shine. Puzzle toys, long-lasting treats, and a cosy “chill-out station” will be her jam—helping her learn when it’s time to switch off.

Nova may also enjoy having a doggy friend to help show her the ropes and burn off some of that playful energy—just bring your resident pup along for a meet-and-greet to see if it's a match! A home with teens or older would suit her best.

Nova is a sweet, slightly chaotic, deeply lovable little soul who will reward patience with loyalty, laughs, and lots of personality. She’s not just looking for a home—she’s looking for someone who will help her grow into the confident star she was always meant to be.

What should I feed my dog?

Your dog's diet should be based on a high-quality, balanced premium commercial dog food that is suited to their specific life stage (puppy, adolescent, adult, pregnant, senior) and health condition.

The amount of food your dog needs will depend on factors like their size, breed, age, and activity level. However, it’s important not to overfeed or underfeed. Your vet can weigh your dog, assess their body condition score, and offer feeding recommendations.

To prevent bloat, which can be life-threatening, adult dogs should be fed at least twice a day and should not engage in exercise right before or after meals. This is especially important for deep-chested breeds like Boxers and German Shepherds.

Make sure fresh drinking water is always available. Do not give your dog milk as it can lead to gastrointestinal issues.

Should I feed bones to my dog?

Bones offer dogs nutrients and mental stimulation while helping remove tartar from their teeth. However, bones can also break teeth, cause blockages, and carry harmful bacteria. Consider these factors to make an informed decision for your pet and family’s wellbeing.

Dental chews are a good alternative if you wish to provide your pet with entertainment that assists with teeth cleaning. Visit RSPCA World for Pets for a range of quality dental chews for your dog.
